The Momcozy S9 Pro is a high-value wearable breast pump at $64.99 for a single unit. It features button-only control, fits under a bra, and runs eight or nine sessions per charge. It's the usual choice for moms who are starting hands-free pumping.

We have read questions from our support inbox, Reddit and Mumsnet posts, and about 2,500 verified Amazon and Walmart reviews. This article answers these S9 Pro -related questions directly.

New to pumping? Our breast pumps for beginners guide covers the first weeks of the pumping journey. This page stays on the S9 Pro.

Is the Momcozy S9 Pro worth it? (the honest value verdict)

Yes, for the right mom. The S9 Pro gives you a genuinely quiet, wearable breast pump that has a long-lasting battery for under $70.

But please note that it does not have app connectivity, a warm-massage mode, or a countdown timer. If you want those features, check the S12 Pro Quick or the M5 Smart instead.

Furthermore, the S9 Pro is not a hospital-grade wall pump, and the suction is aggressive. That said, you need to start with the low setting and size the flange carefully if you have sensitive nipples.

If you are an exclusive pumper, know that it pairs well with a big-motor pump at home. The V3 or V3 Pro handles main pumping sessions, and the S9 Pro is the wearable you clip on for the office or a trip.

Who should (and shouldn't) buy the S9 Pro

This section will help you determine whether the S9 Pro is the right breast pump for you or if you need a different one.

Who should consider buying the S9 Pro

Consider buying the S9 Pro if you're a first-time pumper. Likewise, consider it if you want a backup wearable you can use in the office or while traveling. Moms who exclusively pump often pair it with a big-motor pump at home. The S9 Pro is the wearable they use when at work or on a trip. At home, they have a different model, like the V3 or V3 Pro.

Who should not buy the S9 Pro

Don't buy the S9 Pro if you want app control, Mixed mode, or warm massage. The S9 Pro does not have those. Check the S12 Pro Quick (Mixed mode + memory function) or the M5 Smart (app + LED countdown timer) instead.

Also, skip it if you need a flange larger than 24 mm. The box includes a 24 mm flange with 17/19/21 mm inserts; a 27 mm flange is sold separately. Elastic nipples may still find 24 mm tight.

Out of the box: unboxing & first assembly

A single kit contains:

  • one motor
  • one 24 mm single-seal flange
  • 17/19/21 mm inserts
  • one diaphragm
  • one linker, one valve (duckbill), one diaphragm
  • a Type-C cable
  • the manual.

A double kit doubles the wearable parts.

A damp seal is the top cause of weak suction., Once moisture gets inside the motor, it cannot be removed easily. That said, dry every part fully before assembly. Once they are dry, follow these steps:

  1. Wash your hands before handling the breast pump parts.
  2. Press the silicone diaphragm into the linker until it seals flat with no gaps.
  3. Push the duckbill valve onto the linker until it fits securely.
  4. Place the assembled linker into the milk collector, align the linker notch with the inner groove, and press the diaphragm onto the round hole until sealed.
  5. Slide your insert (17/19/21 mm) into the 24 mm flange, centering your nipple.
  6. Connect the flange to the main body, then seat the collector on the motor (align groove and notch). Close the charging cap before use, or it may whistle.

How to use the Momcozy S9 Pro: modes, settings & a typical session

Here's how to use the Momcozy S9 Pro wearable breast pump.

Operating the S9 Pro: Stimulation, Expression & the 9 levels

The S9 Pro has two modes:

  • Stimulation: This mode triggers let-down with quick pulses
  • Expression: This mode is the slower draw for the main session.

Each mode has nine levels, shown on the LED. The S9 Pro does not offer Mixed mode. If you are looking for that, check the S12 Pro Quick instead. And there's no app. You need to use the buttons on the motor if you want to change the mode.

Your first session, step by step

  1. Fit the flange and insert, then center your nipple and place the cup in your bra.
  2. Press the power button to start. You will see the current mode and level displayed on the LED.
  3. Use the mode button to switch between Stimulation and Expression.
  4. Use the +/− buttons to adjust the suction level. Start on level 1 and raise slowly. Reduce the level if you feel pain.
  5. Watch the LED. The pump auto shuts off at 30 minutes to prevent nipple damage. Pour and reset if you need more.

Charging, cleaning & daily care

Here's information on how to charge and clean the S9 Pro.

How long does Momcozy S9 Pro take to charge?

Plan on roughly 2.5 hours from empty with a 5V/1A Type-C charger. Use the included Type-C cable. A quick top-up between sessions is enough for most days. This breast pump can last up to 8 or 9 sessions.

How to know when Momcozy S9 Pro is fully charged

The LED stops cycling and shows a steady full-battery icon. Unplug the S9 Pro when you notice it. Leaving it plugged in indefinitely does nothing extra.

How to clean and sterilize the S9 Pro

The S9 Pro is not dishwasher safe. The heat from the dishwasher can warp the silicone. Hand-wash it after every use and disinfect daily if your baby is newborn or preterm.

  1. Separate the motor from the collector. Always keep the motor dry.
  2. Wash parts in warm (40–60°C) soapy water with a dedicated brush. Don't use brushes that you also use for dishes, bottles, and other things.
  3. Boil the parts for 5–10 minutes or use one microwave steam bag per day.
  4. Air-dry the parts on a clean towel. Reassemble the pump only when the parts are fully dry.

For when to swap valves and diaphragms, see our pump-parts replacement guide.

Emptying, pouring & keeping leaks away

The cup can hold up to 6 oz. However, it can leak once the milk level goes above 4 oz. That happens more often if you bend over. Pour when it's around half full to help reduce risks of leaks.

How to empty Momcozy S9 Pro

Unclip the cup from the motor, twist off the collector, and pour into a bottle or bag. Keep the motor away from liquid. Do not overfill past 4 oz if you'll be moving around. Overfilling, as well as loose valves or a mis-seated flange, are usually the cause of leaks. Our flange-leak guide covers the fixes.

Troubleshooting: weak suction, resets & when it's a dud

The S9 Pro has no dedicated reset button. Long-press the power button to restart the pump. If it's frozen, power it off, wait a minute, and try again.

  1. Most "no suction" cases are a wet or loose seal. Re-seat the valve, linker, and diaphragm, and make sure the collector is fully seated on the motor before trying again.
  2. If it still won't respond after a cycle, or the motor sounds off, stop using it. Reach out to our support team.
  3. The warranty covers motors that genuinely fail. Contact our support team with your receipt for a replacement.

S9 Pro vs S12 Pro Quick vs M5 Smart: where the extra money goes

The S9 Pro, S12 Pro Quick, and M5 Smart are all Momcozy wearables, but they sit on different rungs. Below is a comparison between the three.

Feature S9 Pro S12 Pro Quick M5 Smart
Price $64.99 single $74.99 single ($10 more) $199.99 double (highest)
Modes Stim + Expression (9 each) Adds Mixed mode Stim + Expression + Mixed (+app)
App No No Yes
Timer No countdown (30-min auto off) No countdown (30-min auto off + memory) LED countdown + app
Battery 8–9 sessions (longest) ~8 sessions ~6 sessions
Quietness Under 45 dB ≤46 dB <48 dB

S9 Pro vs S12 Pro Quick: same wearable body, about $10–$20 apart

These two are close siblings. Both fit under a bra, run on buttons, and put the motor on the cup. The S12 Pro Quick adds three things for about $10–$20 more: Mixed mode, a memory function that recalls your last settings, and a double-seal flange. If you want the same hands-free shape with a softer draw and remembered settings, that's the upgrade to go for.

Read our S9 Pro vs S12 Pro Quick breakdown if you want a more detailed comparison. It discusses topics such as specific use cases.

S9 Pro vs M5 Smart: buttons vs app

The M5 Smart is a different tier of wearable. Like the S9 Pro, it has nine suction levels, but it adds Mixed mode and app control. The M5 Smart also has a built-in countdown timer on the LED display. The app lets you set and track sessions from your phone. Read our M5 Smart review to learn more about the app. You pay the most for that convenience.

If you don't mind using on-motor buttons, you can stick with the S9 Pro. It allows you to save more.

Momcozy S9 Pro: the questions moms actually ask

These questions came straight from owner threads and reviews. Here are the answers:

Why is the S9 Pro suction so strong it hurts, even on level 1?

Several owners say level 1 feels intense. Before blaming the motor, check the flange first. Pain at a low level usually indicates that the flange is too small. An improper flange fit is the most common cause of sore, pinched nipples.

Measure your nipple diameter (not the areola) and try the next insert size up. The box ships 17/19/21 mm inserts. The motor is built for output, not gentleness, and the short flange tunnel adds pressure. You can also size your flange with our flange-fit guide.

After adjusting the flange size, start on level 1 of Stimulation mode and raise slowly. If it still hurts after a correct fit, the S12 Pro Quick's softer Mixed mode may suit you better.

Why did my S9 Pro lose suction or just stop? (motor life & warranty)

Suppose your S9 Pro loses suction or stops. First, rule out a wet seal or mis-seated parts. Dry or replace a wet seal, and re-seat the valve, linker, and diaphragm before testing the pump again.

If suction drops after a few weeks of normal use, it's likely a worn diaphragm or a motor fault. Both are covered by warranty. Contact support with your receipt for a replacement.

Why am I getting low milk output with the S9 Pro?

Output depends on fit and frequency, not just the pump. Low yield usually means a tight flange, starting on a level that's too high, or an uneven pumping schedule. Size the flange, start on low settings, and empty on a steady rhythm. If it won't climb, loop in a lactation consultant.

Does the S9 Pro leak, and how do I stop it?

It can, like any wearable. The fixes are simple: keep milk under about 4 oz, seat the flange and valve firmly, and don't bend over with a full cup. Our milk-leak guide walks through each cause. Most leaks are a seal issue, not a pump defect.

How long does the battery last, and how many sessions per charge?

How long does the Momcozy S9 Pro pump for on a full charge? Roughly eight or nine sessions, and a full charge takes about 2.5 hours over Type-C. Heavy users (exclusive pumping) may hit the lower end. A midday top-up between sessions keeps you covered. The LED shows remaining battery so you're not surprised mid-pump.

What flange sizes are included, and how do I know my size?

The box ships a 24 mm flange with 17/19/21 mm inserts; 27 mm is sold separately. Measure your nipple diameter (not the areola) and add 1–2 mm. Our flange-fit guide shows the steps. A correct fit is the single biggest lever on comfort and output.

S9 Pro vs S12 Pro Quick: which should I actually buy?

Pick the S9 Pro if you want the best value and don't need an app or Mixed mode. Pick the S12 Pro Quick if you'll pay about $10–$20 more for Mixed mode, a memory function, and a better seal. The full S9 vs S12 Pro breakdown lays it out by use case.

Is the S9 Pro loud, and discreet enough for work or the baby's room?

It runs under 45 dB, among the quieter models we make, but some owners call it slightly louder than the S12 Pro in certain modes. For an office or a napping baby it's fine at low levels. At max suction you'll hear it more. Keep it on a mid level and it stays discreet.

Does the S9 Pro have an app (or a timer)?

No app and no countdown timer. Control is entirely on the motor buttons; the LED shows mode, level, and battery, and it auto shuts off at 30 minutes. App control lives on the M5 Smart; S12 Pro Quick adds Mixed mode and a memory function. M5 Smart also has a built-in LED countdown timer. For many moms the lack of an app is a plus: nothing to pair, no updates, no phone under your shirt.

Is the S9 Pro FSA/HSA eligible, and will my insurance cover it?

Like most Momcozy pumps, the S9 Pro is FSA/HSA eligible because a breast pump counts as a covered medical expense. Use your benefits card at checkout or save the receipt for reimbursement. Insurance coverage varies by plan; our insurance guide covers what to ask your administrator.

Is the S9 Pro hospital grade?

It uses a strong motor and pulls hard, but "hospital grade" isn't a formal FDA term. The hospital-grade explainer notes the FDA classes breast pumps as medical devices without defining the phrase. Think of the S9 Pro as a capable home pump, not a multi-user rental unit.

Bottom line

The S9 Pro is the high-value wearable that does the job: quiet, long-battery, button-simple, under $70. You trade away the app, timer, and warm massage. Grab it on the S9 Pro product page if that's the right trade for you.
