However, between unpredictable spring rain and rising temperatures, sometimes it feels like we’re prepping for an expedition. Overpacking is basically a mom sport. But don’t worry—I’ve been there, I am there, and I’ve compiled my sanity-saving spring baby essentials to make getting out the door more doable.

Dressing in Layers for Spring Outings
Spring weather is unpredictable. It’s warm. It’s windy. It’s raining sideways. So, layers it is.
For you, that means lightweight, breathable, easy-access nursing gear. Start with linen-blend camisoles or moisture-wicking nursing tanks—clothes that keep you cute, contained, yet temperature-controlled. And listen, undergarments matter. A comfortable, breathable pumping or nursing bra is a game-changer, allowing for direct nursing or pumping. If your bra digs, pokes, or pinches, it’s time to let it go.

Before leaving, prep bottles or bags in the amounts your baby usually takes, and toss in a couple of 1–2 oz “snack” bottles. Sometimes, the baby just wants a snack.

I’m hands-free whenever possible, so I lean toward baby carriers. Mesh or linen baby carriers are perfect for warm days—they breathe, wick sweat, and can be tossed in the wash. If strollers are more your speed, lightweight, compact strollers with rain or sun covers are clutch. A cover can turn a “we should go home” moment into “we can actually finish this walk.”
