Demi Lucas, IBCLC, PMH-C

Demi Lucas is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health–Certified), and DONA-trained birth and postpartum doula. She also served as an accredited La Leche League Leader for five years. A mother of four breastfed children, Demi brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work. With over a decade of experience in maternal and infant health across paid, volunteer, and academic roles, she has built her career around supporting families during one of life’s most transformative seasons.
Her passion for this work began 10 years ago when she was expecting her oldest daughter. While she may not have known everything about newborns at the time, she knew she wanted to give her baby the very best start. After facing personal challenges while learning to breastfeed — and experiencing bias within the medical system as a young mother — Demi found her calling in providing empathetic, nonjudgmental support to other parents. What began as peer breastfeeding counseling evolved into birth and postpartum doula work, La Leche League leadership, student IBCLC training, and ultimately certification as an IBCLC.
Demi understands that from the moment pregnancy is announced, families are met with a flood of advice, opinions, and information — often confusing and conflicting. As an IBCLC and doula, she believes that each family’s goals should remain at the center of care. She is committed to offering unbiased, evidence-based guidance while meeting families exactly where they are. Her approach focuses on creating a clear, personalized roadmap that empowers parents as the true experts on their own babies.
Originally from Southern Virginia, Demi has lived in multiple locations throughout her husband’s military career before settling in Northern Virginia. She is a member of the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee and the U.S. Lactation Consultant Association.
